It was a night out at the opera for the dozens of locals who attended the ‘Lady Sings the Maroon’ performance on Thursday night, June 1.
As a part of the Dolly Parton Imagination Fund, Goondiwindi Regional Council put on the popular opera performance to help raise money to provide one hundred Goondiwindi children with a book a month from birth to their fifth birthday.
Goondiwindi local Ellana McNulty said she had attended with her husband to support the literacy program and to take an opportunity for a social night out.
Likewise, Anne Donges and her husband Philip travelled from Texas for the night and said it was an amazing way to support a good cause and spoil yourself.
“We came tonight because it is great to have these events come to the area and if you don’t support them, you lose them,” said Anne.
The opera was preceded by dinner and drinks.
